Riksja India is part of Riksja Travel, a travel organization by and for travelers. At the office in Leiden we work with enthusiastic people with a passion for traveling. We prefer to travel around the world, wherever and whenever we can. We therefore offer the way of traveling that we like best.

By means of our India building blocks , short travel segments, you can put together your own ideal trip. In our India tours we have already made combinations of building blocks, but feel free to adjust them to make the trip that suits you. A trip that you organize at your own pace, where you really get to know a country and its people and after which you come home with a story. A funny, beautiful or special experience that you will remember for a long time. In addition, we find it important that our trips are responsible with respect for people and nature. My first trip to India in 2006 was a trip I will never forget. Back then, I was less well-travelled, but it was quite an experience. I landed in the city of Mumbai where my brother and girlfriend were involved in a number of projects. There we went, on our way to their house in two black taxis, me in the back and my bright red suitcase on the roof of the front taxi. We manoeuvred our way through the chaos in the traffic: tuk tuks from the left, an elephant from the right, vendors with all kinds of goods at our window. Three years ago in Jaipur I remember the stately forts and palaces next to slums where locals did their laundry with a play of colours of cloths and clothing. A constant stimulation of your senses in smells, colours and the taste of delicious curries. In Goa there was a completely different atmosphere with its endless palm coasts, golden beaches and old Portuguese colonial houses. For me, India is a country of extremes with intense travel experiences, both physically and internally.

In India we work with a partner who will assist you with advice and support on site. We select our local partners with care. We find the same things important; freedom, authenticity and being good to people. They will arrange your trip on site. Travel in which people are central, small-scale and of course responsible. This way we can trust that you are in good hands not only before your trip, but also during your India trip.

We are part of Riksja Travel, named after the simple means of transport and its hard-working drivers. A rickshaw is an accessible means of transport where you really make contact with the local population. By using this, you contribute directly to the local economy. Riksja stands for the far, small-scale and individual trips that we have been offering since 2000. Travel where people are central.
